Energy Star-certified appliances stainless steel kitchen

Appliances and home electronics are responsible for about 20% of a U.S. home's energy bills. Devices carrying the ENERGY STAR logo generally use 20-30% less energy and natural resources than required by federal standards by employing superior designs that require less energy to perform the same or better job. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that ENERGY STAR appliances saved about $14 billion in energy costs in 2006 alone.

Energy efficient lighting with hanging light bulbs

Lighting products that have earned the ENERGY STAR deliver exceptional features, while using less energy. Saving energy helps you save money on utility bills and protect the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the fight against climate change. An ENERGY STAR qualified light bulb; uses about 75% less energy than a traditional incandescent bulb and lasts at least six times longer. It also produces about 75% less heat, so it's safer to operate and can cut energy costs associated with home cooling.

Low-E2 vinyl windows with model eco friendly windows in kitchen

Low-E coatings on windows reduce energy loss by as much as 30-50% compared to regular windows. Low-E coatings, which are microscopically thin materials bonded to the surface of a window's glass, are so thin you can see right through them yet they prevent heat and ultra-violet (UV) rays from passing through the glass.

Programmable thermostat with white and blue thermostat

The average household spends more than $2,200 a year on energy bills. A programmable thermostat reduces residential energy use by adjusting the temperature according to a series of programmed settings that take effect at different times of the day. This allows the temperature difference to be reduced without sacrificing comfort. It is not unusual to achieve 30% heating and cooling energy usage reductions with the pre-programmed settings that come with ENERGY STAR-certified programmable thermostats.

Water saving fixtures green sink banner

Low-flow fixtures have been on the market for a while. These days, there are also many ultra-low-flow fixtures that conserve even more water without compromising performance. The EPA's WaterSense program labels ultra-low-flow, highly water-efficient plumbing fixtures that have been independently tested and certified to meet efficiency and performance standards. In addition to being approximately 20% more water-efficient than average products, every faucet and shower head in a new Woodside home exceeds industry standards for water savings, reducing water bills and the cost of heating water by as much as 50%.

Low VOC painting with green paint brush and paint

The EPA has identified indoor air pollution as one of the four greatest risks to human health. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are found around the home; cleaning solvents, adhesives, paints, and carpets all may emit VOCs. Many VOCs have negative health consequences. In recent years many common materials and products used indoors have been developed and are labeled by their manufacturers as "low VOC" or "zero VOC content" to improve indoor air quality. Today, many low VOC materials are equal or better in quality and durability than conventional VOC-based formulas.

SEER 13 HVAC efficient air conditioner

Heating and cooling homes accounts for nearly 60% of residential electricity usage in the United States. The higher the SEER of your unit, the greater its efficiency - and the lower your operating costs. Compared with models 10 years old or older, cooling costs can be lowered 20-40% with newer, more efficient models.

Energy saving plumbing wall pipes

Wallet Friendly
PEX piping is a lot more wallet friendly than copper. The cost of installation is reduced and the safety dramatically increases without the use of torches where fittings are required.

Keeps temperature, lowering heating cost
Copper is a conductor, transferring cold and heat to the water in the pipes. PEX, on the other hand, does not conduct cold or heat. These pipes hold hot temperatures longer, decreasing a home's energy and water bill...

PEX resists build-up
PEX is specially made to resist build-up, lowering maintenance costs.

Freezing and burst resistant
Unlike copper, PEX pipes are flexible and resist freezing during periods of extremely cold temperatures.

Noise conservation

PEX also provides a quieter water delivery system.

Radiant barrier sustainable green roofs

Lower Your Energy Costs
With a solar home, you will be generating your own clean, renewable energy at an affordable rate. Not only is that good for the environment, but it's good for your wallet. Your system will also produce as much electricity as a standard system.

Lock-in lower rates for years to come
Traditional utility costs tend to rise every year, by switching to solar power you are able to lock in low, predictable electricity rates for years to come.

It's clean energy with no worries
Your solar system will allow you to continuously track your system's key performance and displays how much energy your system is producing throughout the day, month, week and year. It also calculates your lifetime environmental benefits. You can check your system production at anytime online or even from your smart phone.

Tankless water heater with silver eco friendly water tank

An endless supply of hot water, whenever you need it - even for multiple tasks at the same time. Saves money on your energy bill by heating water only when needed, unlike a traditional tank-style water heater that heats and reheats water all day long. With efficient technology, tankless water heaters produce less CO2 than tank-style water heaters. Tankless water heaters deliver reliability and are ENERGYSTAR qualified (up to 96% efficient). Standard option in select plans.
